How to Layer for the Winter

It’s been a while since I posted a blog post, so thank you to Organic Basics for forcing me to open the ol’ laptop again!

OB is asking me to talk about my low impact lifestyle, I posted on Insta about how I like to keep the thermostat turned down in the winter (sorry roomies!) and that is truly one of the best pieces of advice on how you can stay low impact in the winter. Yes, I bring my water bottle everywhere and bring extra bags to the grocery store, but NYC is miserable and cold and half the time I don’t want to leave my house. So to stay warm and eco-conscious I layer up!

Okay, we are here in the holiday season, aka winter, or also known as layering season. How do you survive the winter when it is freezing outside but boiling inside, adding on those layers!

From tees to sweaters to jackets and then everything else on top. So I have developed a fail-safe system of tank tops under sweaters and then burying myself under scarves, but there is one secret there is the skinny long sleeve top. The legend is, is that it sits comfortably underneath a sweater, adds a secure level of warmth to you, and still looks cute when you unwrap your coat, like a sexy burrito!

The good news...I think I found it.

The Organic Basics Tencel Lite Turtleneck

I love it! It is so comfortable and flattering. I can not say this enough, it is magical to layer, its light, warm and not chunky at all! Besides the fact that it is made from Tencel, Tencel is an eco-friendly fiber made from responsibly sourced wood pulp. The wood pulp is dissolved in a closed-loop process with a non-toxic organic solvent, then the solution is forced through tiny holes in order to create a magical biodegradable fiber that feels softer and lighter than cotton, it's more like silk.

Organic Basics is made in factories in Portugal that comply with GOTS and SA800 standards.
