Smart Textiles

Undress Runways 2016 focused on the Future of Fashion, and part of this future are smart textiles.

As the Designer Liaison I needed to source fashion tech for an exhibition before the fashion show. Exhibiting multiple designers from around the world with different but amazing pieces of technology.

by-wire sent their solar panel jacket and solar knit, pieces that use solar panels to create an electric current. Kristi Kuusk sent her Tender dress, a knit dress that lights up as you touch certain areas of the dress. 360fashion based in China collaborated with a designer in Sydney to create a dress made from LED strips. Not only technology, QUT students showed garments made from kombucha leather. An example of growing your own fabrics and the potential for biodegradable and sustainable slow fashion.

This photo focuses on 2XU and their use of textiles and knits to create antibacterial and compression active wear helping sport performance. Undress and the Naked Mag have more detailed postings.
