I've been silent for awhile because I have been in Sydney working at ELLE fashion magazine!

I walked into the doors of the Baur Media company like Andy, and was immediately relegated to the closet. Magazines are not as glamorous as The Bold Type or Devil Wear's Prada.  No way are you spending the day in heels, the dress code was explicitly Stan Smith's or Gucci slides, each to their own. The closet is filled to the brim and it is your job to make sure everything is there and Prada never goes missing, so the scenes where you can steal from the fashion closet? Over my dead intern body!! Not to mention the fluorescent lighting that's just everywhere!

It has been an awesome opportunity to work with an international publication! I have worked with agencies and PR showrooms for awhile and was excited to see the work from the mag's point of view. To be honest I loved it! Being in the thick of things, feeling like I was a trendsetter, even now I like to think I am months ahead of the season's next trends.

Yes, I did meet some amazing girls in the trenches of the closet and I can't wait to see where their careers take them, designing, styling, writing etc... and would jump at the chance to do this again. But it gave me a more honest taste, whether sour or sweet, of the ladder for women working in fashion and publications.
